How much are Horse Riding Lessons?
15.February, 2009
I would really like to learn to ride and there are no websites for the riding schools in my area (East London). What are the average prices for a one hour lesson? Or am i better off buying myself a horse and learning that way?
You are better off taking lessons at a British Horse Society approved school first to find out if you even like riding and to also learn what it takes to ride and keep a horse. Here is a complete list of approved schools in London

No, I would strongly advise against just buying a horse before you learn to ride. Horses are expensive animals to purchase and maintain, and they can be very dangerous if you don't know how to handle them properly. Also, a lot of people want to learn to ride, but after they've done it for a while, they decide it's not really for them. In the midwest United States, you can get an hour's lesson for about 25 dollars. Spending a hundred dollars and being able to walk away if you should decide you don't like to ride is much better than spending a couple thousand on an animal you're now stuck with and don't even want.

i would strongly recommend not just buy a horse all willy nilly. horses are first of all very exspensive - food, vet, board you name it. second horses are difficult to care for & hard to find one thats the exact right one for you. Go to a local Tack Store & look for flyers, then go & check the places out. Thats how I found where I ride. Plus you get to check out the place [ & the instructor] before you commit. my lessons are $30 an our in the US

DONT but a horse on a whim you will probably regret it big time!
I pay between £10- £100 depends who the lesson is with and for how long! How long is a piece of string really!
