What's the best month for a cross country motorcycle ride?

Pretty much planning on heading due west from Pennsylvania to Nevada and back
I would def say early july or late august. If you go to early then you have more chance of rain. Check your route and in the bigger cities check their annual rainfall. I mean, I know you will come across rain at one point in time, but dont you want the least amount possible. Also if you go to late in july or to early in august, the temp is the highest then. I know you have the wind on the bike, but it is still pretty toasty then! Good Luck to ya. your doing something i dream of doing one day!!!

is there any type of riding cross country where you dont get marked on speed.you just do the jumps
Lower level eventing isnt timed. Ask in the horses page under pets.
Writing a book and need info about cross-country horseback riding..?

I'm writing a book and a couple of scenes involves someone taking a cross-country horseback riding trip (something that lasts 2 months or longer). I know there are people who do it, but I don't know anyone personally who does. Does anyone have any info about it or can you recommend a source of information for info on it? I need info about what one typically packs, how do they feed their horse, lots of particulars!

What kinda thing can you put in your own cross country course??

i have an acreage property and a horse and i do cross country horse riding..
Im putting up my own cross country track on the acreage, any ideas on what to put in it?? anything you can think of is great — even if its crazy and never been thought of!!
i want to make things outta everything i have at the acreage and in the garage!!
what are some ideas.. crazy ones, like…. you tell me!

Mondern Pentathlon incluides five events. Equestrian (horseback riding), shooting, fencing, swimming and running. The idea is that the even recounts what a military courier in the 1800s could possibly have to do when trying to carry a message from the battlefront to headquarters. The courier starts out riding his horse, when the horse breaks a leg. Needing to continue, the courier must run. Along the way, he encounter bandits whom he fends off with his pistol and sword. He must also must swim across a river to get back to headquarters. Probably more info than you need, but your question should be answered now (I hope!)
